A Swedish pattern pipe wrench with an ergonomic PVC handle, designed for installing and dismantling plumbing systems and for fitting work. Model 55660 has a working length of 490 mm, which provides ample leverage when working with pipes of medium diameters.
The length of the tool has a direct bearing on the torque and the range of pipe diameters it can handle. The 490 mm wrench is suitable for pipes from approximately 1/2" to 2" in diameter, delivering sufficient leverage without excessive length that would hinder work in confined spaces.
The PVC sleeve on the handle increases comfort by reducing vibration and prevents the tool from slipping out of the hand. The material is resistant to oil, water and the typical chemicals encountered in installation work.
Steel jaws with serrations ensure a firm grip on the pipe without slipping. The self-tightening design means that the greater the force applied to the wrench, the firmer the grip on the workpiece, which is important when undoing seized joints.
The adjusting nut allows the jaw opening to be matched to the pipe diameter. The Swedish pattern mechanism is simple to operate and reliable even after prolonged use in demanding conditions.

When using a pipe wrench, position the tool so that the direction of movement is towards the movable jaw – this ensures maximum torque and a secure grip. Tighten the adjusting nut just enough for the jaws to sit against the pipe while still allowing the tool to self-tighten freely during use.
Once work is finished, the wrench should be cleaned of dirt and dried. The adjustment mechanism and jaws can be oiled periodically with machine oil or grease to prevent corrosion and ensure smooth operation. Avoid striking the tool against hard surfaces or using it as a lever for any purpose other than that for which it is intended.
