YATO YT-78005 PZ3 Screwdriver Bits 1/4" x 25 mm (2 pcs)

Professional S2 steel screwdriver bits for Pozidriv screws. The set contains two 25 mm bits with a 1/4" hex shank, intended for use with power screwdrivers and drill drivers.

MaterialS2 steel
Hardness58-60 HRC

Technical characteristics of Pozidriv PZ3 bits

S2 tool steel

A material characterised by a higher silicon and chromium content. It offers better resistance to impact and deformation than standard chrome vanadium steel. It extends bit service life during intensive use in power tools.

58-60 HRC hardness

A hardness range on the Rockwell scale that strikes a balance between wear resistance and resistance to breakage. A value below 58 HRC would mean faster tip wear, while above 60 HRC it would increase the risk of cracking.

Pozidriv PZ3 tip

A system with an additional, shallower cross between the arms of the main cross. The design stops the bit from slipping under load and allows higher torque to be transmitted than a standard Phillips. Size PZ3 corresponds to a screw diameter of 5-7 mm.

Nickel-plated finish

The nickel layer protects the surface against corrosion in damp working conditions. It also makes it easier to clean dirt off the bit and allows it to slide more easily into a magnetic holder.

Applications for PZ3 bits

  • Assembling chipboard and MDF furniture using Pozidriv screws
  • Fixing plasterboard to metal and timber framing
  • Installing window and door hardware fitted with PZ3 screws
  • Fitting skirting boards, cable trunking and finishing trims
  • Servicing domestic appliances fitted with Pozidriv fasteners
  • Assembling steel structures using self-tapping screws
  • Installing electrical accessories and back boxes
  • Dismantling and repairing automotive components

The difference between Phillips and Pozidriv

The Pozidriv system can be recognised by the additional lines between the arms of the cross. Pozidriv screws are marked with the symbol PZ and Phillips with PH. Using the wrong type of bit damages the screw head and accelerates tip wear. PZ3 bits should not be used interchangeably with PH3.

Compatibility with power tools

The 1/4" (6.3 mm) hex shank is the industry standard used on most cordless screwdrivers, drill drivers and impact drivers. The bits fit:

  • Quick-change chucks on cordless screwdrivers
  • Magnetic bit adaptors and bit extensions
  • Drill chucks with quick-release sockets
  • Hand screwdrivers with interchangeable bits

25 mm length and its applications

25 mm bits are the standard for most construction and assembly applications. The shorter profile provides better torque control and stability when driving screws. For work in deep holes or hard-to-reach places, extensions or bits of 50-150 mm are recommended.

Use and maintenance

The service life of the bits depends on selecting the correct operating parameters for the power tool. Usage recommendations:

Torque setting: On screwdrivers with adjustable torque, select a value suited to the material and screw diameter. Too high a torque accelerates tip wear and can damage the screw head.

Working angle: The bit should be held perpendicular to the screw surface. Working at an angle increases pressure on the edges of the tip and causes them to blunt prematurely.

Cleaning: After working in dusty or damp conditions, remove dirt and dry the bit. The nickel layer protects against corrosion, but prolonged contact with moisture can lead to oxidation.

Storage: Store the bits in a dry place, preferably in dedicated organisers or cases that protect the tips from mechanical damage.
