Aluminium oxide sanding sheets with P40 grit, designed for orbital sanders. Rectangular 90x187 mm format with a hook and loop backing and 8-hole perforation for effective dust extraction when working on wood and metal.
P40 grit is a coarse abrasive intended for initial sanding and removing significant unevenness. It effectively strips old paint and lacquer finishes and rust, and levels wood surfaces before further work. The fast material removal rate shortens the time needed to prepare a surface.
Aluminium oxide grains have a hardness of around 9 on the Mohs scale, which gives them durability and resistance to wear. This abrasive effectively sands hard and soft woods, non-ferrous metals, and removes paint finishes. The grain structure allows it to self-sharpen during use.
The hook and loop backing with a neoprene foam layer holds firmly to the sander pad and eliminates the risk of the sheet shifting during use. The flexible backing compensates for minor surface unevenness, increasing sanding efficiency. Sheets can be changed without tools.
The eight holes are positioned to match the orbital sander standard, allowing connection to a dust extraction system. Effective dust removal prevents the abrasive grains from clogging, extends sheet life and improves visibility of the surface being worked. It also reduces exposure to harmful wood dust.

Before buying, check the dimensions of your orbital sander pad. The 90x187 mm format is a standard size used by most delta and rectangular sanders. Also verify the dust hole layout – 8-hole perforation is the most common arrangement, but some models may require a different hole pattern.
Before fitting a sanding sheet, check that the sander pad and the hook and loop surfaces are clean. Dust and residue from previous work can reduce grip. Fit the sheet evenly, without creases or folds, lining the holes up with the dust extraction system.
When working with P40 grit, keep the pressure under control – too much force can overheat the material and clog the grains. Cleaning the dust extraction system regularly keeps the tool working efficiently and extends sheet life. Once the abrasive grains are worn and the sheet no longer sands effectively, replace it.
Sanding sheets should be stored in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and sources of moisture. Moisture can weaken the backing and reduce the grip of the hook and loop. Use the sheets at room temperature – very low temperatures can make the neoprene backing less flexible.
