Wet and Dry Sandpaper Sheet 230×280 mm P120 GEKO G00345
Abrasive paper sheet with aluminium oxide grit on a waterproof backing, designed for hand and machine sanding, both wet and dry. The 230×280 mm format fits the standard platens of orbital sanders.
Technical characteristics
P120 grit – medium sanding
P120 grit (125 µm) is used for removing marks left by coarser sanding, levelling surfaces and preparing them for finishing. It removes scratches left by P80-P100, leaving the surface ready for further smoothing with P150-P240 papers.
Waterproof backing
The specially impregnated paper backing allows wet sanding without the sheet delaminating. Working with water reduces dust, extends abrasive life and prevents the grit from clogging by washing dust away from the working surface.
Aluminium oxide abrasive
Aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃) has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale and is self-sharpening – during use the grit fractures, exposing fresh cutting edges. Suitable for universal use on metals, wood, paint and plastics.
230×280 mm format
The sheet dimensions match the standards of orbital and oscillating sanders. The sheet can be cut into smaller pieces for hand sanding or used whole on a clamp-type sanding pad.

Wet sanding vs dry sanding
Wet sanding lowers the surface temperature, prevents paint from burning and stops the grit becoming clogged with dust. Use water for metals and white spirit for wood. Dry sanding is faster, but requires more frequent sheet changes and good dust extraction.
Use and maintenance
Before starting work, the sheet can be soaked in water for 5-10 minutes – this increases the flexibility of the backing and improves its conformity to the surface being sanded. When wet sanding, rinse the sheet regularly under running water to remove accumulated slurry.
Worn sheets can be identified by grit clogged with dust (the surface becomes smooth and shiny) or by mechanical wear of the abrasive (visible bare patches in the abrasive layer). Store in a dry place, protected from moisture and direct sunlight.
Selecting the grit for the sanding process
A typical sanding sequence: P80 (removing unevenness) → P120 (levelling) → P180 (smoothing) → P240-P320 (finishing). Grit steps should not be skipped – jumping from P80 to P180 lengthens the working time and may leave visible scratches.
