Screw Extractor Set for Broken Screws with HSS Drill Bits, 11-Piece YT-05902 YATO

The YT-05902 is a complete tool set for removing damaged fasteners — screws with sheared heads, broken screws and seized studs. The set combines left-hand alloy steel extractors with HSS drill bits for pilot drilling and a spanner for driving the extractors, so the entire extraction process can be carried out without reaching for any additional tools.

Number of pieces11 pcs
Extractor material6150 / 40Cr steel
Hardness47–53 HRC
Drill bit materialHSS (high-speed steel)

Set features

High-hardness alloy steel

Sizes 1–2 are made from 6150 steel (chrome-vanadium), while sizes 3–5 are made from 40Cr steel (chrome). A hardness of 47–53 HRC translates into resistance to torsional deformation when working with seized fasteners.

HSS drill bits for pilot drilling

Five high-speed steel drill bits allow a pilot hole to be drilled precisely before the extractor is used. Preparing the hole correctly is essential for effective extraction and reduces the risk of snapping the extractor in the material.

M3–M12 spanner included

The supplied spanner, matched to the extractor shanks, allows torque to be applied precisely during extraction. Controlled application of force reduces the risk of breaking the tool or damaging the thread in the hole.

The complete process in one set

The set covers every stage of extraction: drilling the hole (HSS drill bits), inserting the extractor and turning it (spanner). It removes the need to gather tools from different sources before starting work.

Applications

  • Removing screws with sheared or damaged heads from vehicle bodywork and chassis
  • Extracting broken screws from aluminium cylinder heads and gearboxes
  • Removing seized fixing screws from industrial machinery and equipment
  • Renovation work in construction — pulling out damaged anchors and steel fasteners
  • Motorcycle and bicycle servicing — removing corroded screws or those with a sheared drive recess
  • Body and paint shops during removal of body panels
  • Maintenance work on old installations where fasteners have corroded

How to choose the extractor and drill bit size

The extractor size is matched to the outside diameter of the damaged fastener — for example, an M6 screw corresponds to extractor 1# (range 3–6 mm). The HSS drill bit should be smaller in diameter than the screw core, so that the pilot hole does not damage the thread in the base material. For M6 screws a 1/8" (≈ 3.18 mm) drill bit is recommended, and for M10 — 5/32" or 1/4", depending on how deeply the fastener is seated.

How to use

Before extraction, drill a pilot hole with an HSS drill bit of the appropriate diameter, using a drill at low speed with cooling. The hole should be at least half the working length of the extractor in depth. The extractor is inserted into the hole and turned with the M3–M12 spanner clockwise (the extractors have a left-hand thread — they bite into the material when turned anticlockwise, simultaneously unscrewing the damaged fastener). Excessive turning force without a correctly prepared hole can cause the extractor to snap in the material. After use, clean the tools of metal swarf and store them in a dry place.
