Hammer drill bit with SDS Max shank designed for deep drilling in structural concrete and reinforced concrete. The four-cutter head ensures stable guidance through the material, including on contact with steel reinforcement. The 1000 mm length makes it possible to drill through thick load-bearing elements without the need for extensions.
The SDS Max standard (also known as SDS Plus XL or TE-Y) is used on heavy rotary hammers with an impact energy above 8 J. The grooved shank with three locking blocks ensures a secure fit in the chuck and efficiently transfers impact energy directly to the cutting head — without the losses caused by play or tool slippage.
The arrangement of four tungsten carbide cutters in a cross formation centres the bit in the hole and distributes the breaking forces evenly. In practice, this means less deviation of the hole axis, reduced vibration, and the ability to carry on drilling after hitting a reinforcing bar — because the cutters break up the concrete around the steel, they do not jam as easily as those on two-cutter bits.
The overall length of 1000 mm allows a hole to be drilled right through walls and ceilings of the thickness typical of reinforced concrete construction — without adding extensions, which increase axial runout and reduce precision. The spiral flutes for debris removal are long enough to prevent dust from jamming in the hole when drilling to full depth.
The bit is designed for use with heavy SDS Max rotary hammers that generate impact energy in the range of 8–20 J. This combination is required when drilling high-grade concrete (C30/37 and above) and when regularly encountering reinforcing bars. Using an SDS Max bit in lighter SDS Plus chucks is impossible because of the difference in shank geometry.

The SDS Max shank is the standard used by most manufacturers of heavy rotary hammers (Bosch, Hilti, Makita, Metabo, Milwaukee and others). Before buying, make sure that your rotary hammer is fitted with an SDS Max chuck — not SDS Plus. The two systems differ in shank diameter and are not interchangeable. SDS Max bits are intended for hammer drilling mode only; they must not be used in rotary-only mode without impact.
