Heat shrink connectors with a built-in solder ring and hot-melt adhesive for permanent joints in electrical cables. Designed for conductors of 1.5-2.5 mm² in electrical, automotive and electronic installations.
The solder ring inside the tubing melts at 105°C, creating a permanent electrical joint. It removes the need to solder the conductors separately, which speeds up assembly and delivers consistent joint quality.
The hot-melt adhesive layer activates during heating, forming a waterproof barrier. It protects the joint from moisture, dust and corrosion, which matters in installations exposed to changing weather conditions.
PE is more flexible than PVC and retains its properties between -55°C and +125°C. It resists abrasion, mechanical puncture and most of the chemicals used in workshops.
Tubing with an internal diameter of 4.5 mm shrinks to approximately 1.1 mm, so it fits conductors of various sizes within the 1.5-2.5 mm² range. The 4:1 shrink ratio ensures the tubing grips the conductor tightly once heated.

Before fitting the connector, clean and strip the insulation from the cable ends to a length of around 8-10 mm. Push the conductors into the connector from both sides so that they meet in the middle at the solder ring. Heat the whole assembly with a heat gun or a lighter, starting from the centre and moving the heat source outwards. During heating the solder melts (a visible flow appears at the joint) and the tubing shrinks and grips the conductors. Once cool, the joint is ready for use.
YT-81442 connectors are designed for 1.5-2.5 mm² conductors (AWG 16-14). Before buying, check the conductor size on the insulation or in the installation documentation. Using a connector of the wrong size results either in a joint that is not sealed (too large) or in conductors that cannot be inserted (too small).
Once the joint has been made, the connector retains its properties between -55°C and +125°C. This means it can be used in outdoor installations and close to heat sources. The 80°C shrink temperature and 105°C solder melting temperature require a heat gun or a lighter – a normal stream of hot air from a hairdryer may not be sufficient.
