A spline bit socket connecting a 1/2" socket drive with an M12 spline-profile bit. A workshop tool designed for fitting and removing spline-drive components using standard 1/2 inch sockets.
The standard 1/2" square drive accepts all standard and impact sockets of this size. It allows the use of a torque wrench, ratchet or hand sockets, depending on the torque requirements.
The spline profile provides a larger contact area than a hex profile. Size M12 denotes an outside bit diameter of 12 mm. Used with spline-drive bolts and nuts.
CrV6150 chrome vanadium steel is characterised by increased hardness and wear resistance. The chrome layer protects against corrosion and increases durability in the workshop environment.
AISI S2 tool steel belongs to the group of impact steels with increased resistance to dynamic loads. The nickel coating provides anti-corrosion protection and reduces friction during use.

A spline connection uses a greater number of splines than a standard hex connection. It distributes forces over a larger area, which reduces the risk of damaging the recess at high torque values. Used in applications requiring precise torque transmission and resistance to wear.
Before starting work, check the condition of the tool's working surfaces. The spline profile should be free of dirt and contaminants, which can prevent it from seating correctly in the recess.
The bit socket must be fully seated in the spline recess before torque is applied. Incomplete seating can damage the spline profile in the bolt or nut.
After finishing work, clean the socket of workshop dirt. The chrome and nickel layers provide basic protection, but regular cleaning extends the life of the tool.
Storing the tool in a dry place prevents contact corrosion. When working in damp environments or with chemicals, applying a light protective grease to the metal surfaces is advisable.
