Technical features of the 1/2" spline socket
Spline profile
The spline system uses 12 points rather than the 6 edges of a hex profile. This increases the contact area with the bolt head, reducing the risk of rounding the edges at high torque. The profile is used in automotive and industrial mechanics.
Chrome vanadium (CrV) steel
This steel alloy with added chromium and vanadium offers increased hardness (above 40 HRC) and wear resistance. The chromium content provides corrosion protection, which extends the tool's service life in workshop conditions.
1/2 inch drive
The 12.7 mm square drive is the standard for medium-sized ratchets. It ensures compatibility with 1/2" ratchets, extension bars and universal joints, allowing torque of up to approximately 200 Nm to be transmitted.
Polished finish
The mechanically polished surface makes it easier to clean oil contamination from the tool and prevents dirt from accumulating. The smooth surface minimises friction during use and improves appearance.

How do I check compatibility?
Before buying, make sure the bolts on the equipment you are working on have a 10 mm spline (multi-spline) profile. The spline profile differs from standard hex and Torx profiles. The socket requires a ratchet with a 1/2 inch drive.
Using and maintaining the spline socket
Spline sockets require regular cleaning and lubrication of the drive end. After each use, remove any residual oil and dirt with a soft cloth. Storing the socket in a dry place prevents corrosion.
During use, make sure the socket is fully seated on the bolt before applying torque. Incorrect seating can damage the splines or the bolt head. For seized fasteners, apply penetrating oil before attempting to undo them.
Chrome vanadium steel retains its mechanical properties at working temperatures up to approximately 200°C. Do not heat the socket with a flame, as this causes loss of hardening and permanently weakens the material structure.
