Spline Socket 1/2" 19mm 38mm YT-14831 YATO
Spline socket with a 1/2 inch drive and a 19 mm socket size, designed for use with torque wrenches and ratchets. The spline profile distributes torque more evenly than standard hex sockets.
Features of the 1/2" spline socket
Spline profile
The spline system uses 12 points of contact instead of 6 as in standard sockets. It spreads the load over a larger area, which reduces the risk of rounding off the corners of a bolt or nut, especially on worn or corroded fasteners.
1/2 inch drive
The 1/2" size is standard in mechanical and automotive workshops. It is compatible with ratchets, torque wrenches, extension bars and universal joints of the same size. It provides sufficient torque for most applications.
Chrome vanadium CrV steel
CrV material is characterised by high hardness (usually 40-45 HRC) and resistance to wear. The chromium content increases corrosion resistance, while vanadium improves mechanical strength. The socket retains its properties under intensive use.
38 mm working length
The overall length of 38 mm provides access to standard bolted joints. The socket fits into typical mounting recesses while offering sufficient depth for work with bolts of standard shank length.

Compatibility with fasteners

Differences between socket profiles
Spline
12 points of contact, better load distribution, lower risk of damaging the bolt. Recommended for worn components and high torques. Requires precise size matching.
Hex
6 points of contact, universal use, the most popular standard. Greater dimensional tolerance, easier to fit. At high torques there is a greater risk of rounding off the corners.
Bi-Hex
12 points of contact arranged as two hexagons. A compromise between spline and hex. It works with standard hexagonal bolts and offers better load distribution than hex.
Use and maintenance
Before use, check that the socket is correctly seated on the ratchet or torque wrench. The spline profile must be fully seated on the fastener – partial engagement can damage both the socket and the bolt.
When working with a torque wrench, observe the recommended torque range for the tool. Exceeding the maximum torque can damage the ratchet mechanism or deform the socket.
After use in conditions exposed to moisture or chemicals, clean and dry the socket. The chrome finish provides protection against corrosion, but prolonged contact with water or salt can lead to rust. Periodic lubrication of the drive square extends the life of the tool.
Storing sockets
Spline sockets should be stored in organisers or on magnetic rails, separated by size. This prevents mistakes when selecting a tool and protects the working profile from mechanical damage during transport.
