A set of three precision-ground step drill bits made from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. These tools are designed for drilling holes in thin-gauge steel sheet, non-ferrous metals and plastics — with no pilot hole required and no burring.
Titanium nitriding increases the surface hardness of the bit and reduces friction during drilling. The manufacturer states a service life six times longer than that of uncoated HSS bits — which means less frequent tool changes in intensive use.
Precision grinding of the cutting edges ensures a clean cut with no burrs and prevents chips from sticking to the surface of the bit. A step drill bit allows a hole of the target diameter to be drilled in a single pass — with no need for a centre or pilot bit.
Each step on the bit is permanently marked with a number corresponding to the hole diameter. This allows the drilling depth to be monitored continuously and the tool to be stopped precisely at the required size without any additional measuring.
The standard straight shank makes the bit compatible with most drill presses, hand drills and combi drills fitted with a three-jaw chuck. Before purchase, check the maximum chuck capacity of the drill you intend to use.

Step drill bits are designed for thin-gauge materials only — their effectiveness declines as material thickness increases. For drilling into thicker steel or into concrete, use twist drill bits or hammer drill bits of the appropriate type. Before use, it is worth checking that the diameter range of the specific bit in the set covers the target diameter you require.
