S3 category safety boots with a composite toe cap resistant to impacts of up to 200 J and a penetration-resistant midsole that withstands pressure of 1100 N. Certified to EN ISO 20345:2011, these boots are designed for work involving exposure to mechanical impacts, punctures and contact with petroleum-based substances.
The composite toe cap withstands impact energy of up to 200 J and a compressive load of up to 15 kN. In practice, this means protection against objects weighing up to 20 kg falling from a height of 1 metre and against being run over by a forklift wheel. Composite is lighter than steel and does not conduct cold.
A flexible plastic midsole in the sole unit protects the foot against being pierced by nails, screws and other sharp objects exerting pressure of up to 1100 N. Unlike steel midsoles, it does not restrict the flexibility of the boot and does not conduct temperature.
A two-layer polyurethane and rubber sole with a tread pattern provides grip on wet and greasy surfaces. The SRC marking confirms compliance with slip resistance standards both on ceramic tiles with water and detergent (SRA) and on a steel floor with glycerine (SRB).
The sole is resistant to oils, petrol and chemical substances, which allows the boots to be worn in mechanical workshops and industrial environments. The antistatic properties prevent the build-up of electrostatic charge, which is important in potentially explosive areas.

The S3 category covers all the requirements of category S2 (200 J toe cap, closed heel, energy absorption in the heel, antistatic properties, resistance to hydrocarbons, limited water absorption) and additionally requires a penetration-resistant midsole and a sole with a tread pattern. It is intended for work both outdoors and indoors where there is a risk of the sole being pierced and exposure to moisture.
The insole should be 5-10 mm longer than the foot. For size 39, the foot length is 25.0 cm and the insole length is 25.6 cm, giving 6 mm of extra room. Before buying, it is advisable to measure the foot in a standing position, from the heel to the longest toe. Safety footwear should leave some room around the toes, particularly when worn for long periods.
The leather upper requires regular cleaning to remove dust and dirt using a brush or a damp cloth. Any contact with chemical substances should be removed immediately to avoid damaging the material. The treaded sole should be checked periodically for wear of the tread pattern, which is responsible for grip.
The insole can be removed for airing or replacement. The boots should be dried at room temperature, away from direct heat sources that could damage the composite toe cap and the penetration-resistant midsole. The antistatic properties may deteriorate if the footwear becomes heavily saturated with moisture.
In accordance with EN ISO 20345, safety footwear should be replaced once the protective elements show noticeable wear or if the sole, toe cap or penetration-resistant midsole is damaged. Regular inspection of the technical condition of the boots ensures that the declared safety parameters are maintained.
