A professional tool kit for locking the camshaft and crankshaft on VOLVO petrol engines. It enables correct timing alignment when replacing a timing belt or timing chain, and for other service work that requires the timing system to be synchronised.
The kit covers 4-, 5- and 6-cylinder VOLVO engines, so there is no need to buy separate tools for different configurations. Compatibility with engine codes B41XX, B42XX, B52XX, B62XX, B63XX and GB5252S gives wide coverage of models from 1990 to 2010.
The locking tools prevent the camshafts from turning while timing components are removed and refitted. They are made to the manufacturer's original tolerances, which guarantees accurate positioning at TDC (Top Dead Centre) and prevents valve damage through contact with the pistons.
The tools are intended for professional garages and for experienced users carrying out their own repairs. The locking tools must be used when replacing a timing belt, repairing the cylinder head or adjusting valve clearances on VOLVO engines.
The kit contains camshaft and crankshaft locking tools matched to the installation requirements of VOLVO engines. The components are made from durable materials and can be used repeatedly without losing dimensional accuracy.

Before buying, check the engine code in the vehicle documents or on the VIN plate under the bonnet. The engine code is also recorded in the service book. Engines outside the series listed above (for example the later Drive-E units) require different tool kits.
Before first use, check that all parts of the kit are present and undamaged. Fit the locking tools in accordance with the service instructions for the specific engine model — incorrect alignment can damage the timing system.
Do not use excessive force when fitting the locking tools. If a tool does not fit freely into the locating hole, check the alignment of the shaft — it may mean the engine is not at number one cylinder TDC.
After use, clean the tools of any contamination and protect them against corrosion. Storing them in the original packaging or a dedicated case prevents mechanical damage and makes it easier to check that the kit is complete.
Working on the timing system requires technical knowledge and experience. Incorrect timing can cause the valves to contact the pistons, leading to costly engine repairs. If you lack experience, have the work carried out by a professional garage.
