A tape measure with a nylon tape 8 metres in length and 25 mm in width, fitted with a double-sided measuring scale. It meets the requirements of accuracy class I in accordance with European standards.
The scale marked on both sides of the tape allows measurements to be read without having to turn the tool over. A useful solution for measurements in hard-to-reach places and when working with sheet materials, where the tape may flip over.
Compliance with the EN standard means a maximum permissible error of ±0.9 mm over the full 8-metre length. This accuracy class is sufficient for most construction, joinery and installation applications where repeatable measurements are required.
The 25 mm width gives the tape rigidity when extended up to around 2 metres without support. The nylon material is resistant to moisture and does not rust, which extends the service life of the tool when working outdoors.
The rubberised body increases resistance to mechanical damage if dropped and provides a secure grip. The steel clip allows the tape measure to be attached to a belt or pocket, making it easier to reach when working at height or in a kneeling position.

Class I under the EN standard defines the maximum permissible measurement error. For an 8-metre tape measure this is ±0.9 mm. This means that an 8-metre measurement may read between 7999.1 mm and 8000.9 mm. Compared with class II (error ±1.8 mm over 8 m), class I offers twice the precision, which matters when joining multiple components or taking cumulative measurements.
Before first use, check the operation of the rewind mechanism and the condition of the tape – it should show no kinks or damage to the coated scale. During use, the tape should be rewound in a controlled manner, avoiding rapid rewinding, which can damage the mechanism's spring.
The nylon tape does not require lubrication, but it is worth cleaning it periodically of dust and dirt with a dry cloth. After working in damp conditions, allow the tool to dry naturally before putting it away. Avoid storing it in places exposed to direct sunlight, which can accelerate ageing of the material.
The rewind mechanism should not be taken apart by the user – the tensioned spring poses a hazard. If the mechanism is damaged, the whole tool should be replaced.
The accuracy of the tape measure can be checked periodically by comparison with a reference – a steel rule or a calibrated tape. The check should be carried out at room temperature (20°C), as materials expand and contract with temperature. If the deviation exceeds the values for class I, the tool should be withdrawn from use.
