A quick-release bar clamp with a one-handed trigger mechanism and a spreader function. A solution for woodworking and metalworking workshops and for timber frame assembly, where fast positioning and clamping of components up to 750 mm long is required.
Features of the VOREL 38409 bar clamp
Quick-release mechanism with one-handed operation
The design allows the jaw opening to be set and the workpiece clamped quickly with one hand. Useful during work where the other hand is stabilising or positioning components. The trigger mechanism releases the pressure instantly, with no need to wind back a screw.
Parallel jaw movement
The jaws move parallel to one another, ensuring even distribution of clamping force across the whole contact area. This eliminates the risk of components tilting during clamping and increases joint stability while glue dries or during assembly.
Spreader function
The jaws can be reversed, allowing the clamp to be used as a spreader. Useful when fitting door frames, window frames or for other work requiring components to be spread precisely to a set distance. It extends the tool's functionality beyond standard clamping.
Soft jaw covers
Plastic pads protect the workpiece surface from scratches and dents. Particularly important when working with solid timber, furniture board or lacquered components, where any surface damage requires time-consuming repair.

How to use the spreader function
To use the clamp as a spreader, turn the movable jaw through 180 degrees. In this configuration, the tool applies spreading force instead of clamping force. Useful when fitting door frames, where the width of the frame has to be set precisely.
Use and maintenance
Before first use, check that the jaws move freely along the full length of the bar. The quick-release mechanism requires periodic cleaning to remove dust and chips, which can restrict smooth operation.
Protect the bar from knocks and deformation, which could affect parallel jaw movement. After finishing work, release the tension in the mechanism to extend the working life of the springs and moving parts.
Check the soft jaw covers regularly for damage. Cracks or missing material can scratch the workpiece. If the covers are damaged, replace them before using the clamp again.
The release mechanism should operate smoothly. If the trigger requires excessive force or jams, clean the mechanism of contamination and check the condition of the moving parts.
