A welding earth clamp is a component of the welding circuit used to close the electrical circuit by connecting the cable to the workpiece. The ZKB-35 model, fitted with a spring-loaded jaw mechanism, provides a secure connection for 35 mm² welding cable.
The clamping system ensures stable electrical contact with the workpiece. The spring-loaded jaws allow quick attachment and release without additional tools, which speeds up changes between working positions.
This parameter defines the maximum continuous operating current that can flow through the clamp without risk of overheating. At 160 A, steel plates up to 6-8 mm thick can be welded, depending on the welding method.
The cable entry is sized for 35 mm² welding cable. A larger cable cross-section means lower electrical resistance and less energy loss during welding, which translates into a more stable welding arc.
The maximum jaw opening allows the clamp to be attached to components up to 50 mm thick. This is an important parameter when working with profiles, pipes or thicker plates, where the clamp has to grip a larger surface area of material.

The clamp is designed for 35 mm² cable. When welding at 160 A with a cable length of up to 10 metres, a 35 mm² cross-section provides adequate conductivity. For longer cables (over 10 m), a larger cross-section is recommended in order to minimise voltage drop.
Regularly check the condition of the clamp jaws for wear and build-up. Contaminated or damaged jaws increase contact resistance, which leads to overheating of the clamp and an unstable arc. Clean the contact surfaces with a wire brush, removing oxides and scale.
Attach the clamp to a clean, unpainted metal surface. A layer of paint, rust or oxides increases electrical resistance and can cause problems with arc striking. On galvanised or painted components, clean the surface under the clamp back to bare metal.
