An impact socket designed for removing and fitting vehicle hubs, suitable for use with pneumatic and electric impact wrenches. Manufactured from CrMo chrome molybdenum steel and engineered for intensive workshop use.
A 1" square drive is the standard for high-torque impact tools. It ensures compatibility with the professional pneumatic and electric impact wrenches used in vehicle workshops. The larger drive compared with a standard 1/2" allows much higher torque values to be transmitted without the risk of damaging the connection.
The 12-point socket increases the contact area with the hub nut compared with a 6-point profile. It allows work to be started every 30 degrees instead of every 60 degrees, which matters in a confined working space. It distributes forces over a larger area, reducing the risk of rounding off the corners of heavily corroded or seized nuts.
An alloy steel with added chromium and molybdenum offers greater resistance to impact and deformation than standard carbon steel. The hardening and tempering process provides surface hardness while retaining a ductile core, which minimises the risk of cracking during impact work. CrMo is the standard material for professional tools subjected to high dynamic loads.
The 85 mm size corresponds to the hub nuts used on lorries, vans and some cars with uprated running gear. Before purchasing, check the required socket size for the specific vehicle model – hub nuts can vary in size depending on the manufacturer and axle type.

Before purchasing, check the hub nut size on the specific vehicle model. The 85 mm size is not universal – cars often use smaller nuts (e.g. 30-36 mm), while larger commercial vehicles may require sockets above 100 mm. Information on the required socket size can be found in the vehicle's technical documentation or measured directly on the nut.
Impact sockets are intended for use with impact tools – pneumatic or electric wrenches generate rotational impulses that are transmitted through the reinforced construction of the socket. Impact sockets should not be used with torque wrenches for tightening to a specified torque – standard (non-impact) sockets are intended for this purpose.
After working on heavily corroded components, it is worth cleaning debris out of the socket recess and applying a thin layer of grease to prevent corrosion. Regularly check the condition of the drive square – worn edges can cause the connection with the wrench to work loose and result in a loss of torque.
When working with impact tools, wear safety goggles and gloves. Make sure the socket is correctly seated on the nut before starting the impact wrench. A loose fit can cause the socket to be thrown off by vibration. Do not exceed the maximum torque recommended by the impact wrench manufacturer.
