YATO YT-47930 80mm Polishing Pad Set
A complete 12-piece set for multi-stage polishing of painted and detailing surfaces. The 80 mm diameter allows precise work in hard-to-reach areas and on smaller surfaces. It contains 9 polishing pads of varying hardness, an M10 backing pad, an adapter and a polishing bonnet for the final gloss stage.
Features of the YATO polishing pad set
Compact 80 mm diameter
The 80 mm diameter provides manoeuvrability when working on smaller surfaces such as car body panels, alloy wheels, mirrors or furniture details. It allows access to hard-to-reach areas where larger polishing discs would be ineffective.
Maximum speed of 6000 rpm
The permissible speed of 6000 rpm allows the polishing intensity to be matched to the type of surface and the stage of work. Lower speeds are used when applying polishing compounds, higher speeds when removing scratches and producing the final gloss.
M10 thread with adapter
The M10 threaded backing pad fits most angle polishers and drills. The included 8 mm adapter extends compatibility with smaller tools. The threaded connection provides a secure fixing during work under load.
Set of 9 pads of varying hardness
The 25 mm thick pads differ in hardness and structure, which enables a full polishing cycle: from removing deep scratches, through levelling the surface, to achieving a mirror gloss. Each pad is designed for a different stage of treatment.

Use and selection of polishing pads
Polishing pads differ in hardness, which determines their purpose. Hard pads (darker colours) are used to remove deeper scratches and paint dulling — they work more aggressively and remove more material. Medium-hardness pads are used for levelling the surface and removing finer imperfections. Soft pads (lighter colours) are intended for final polishing and gloss enhancement without the risk of creating new scratches.
The polishing bonnet is used at the final stage, for applying waxes and protective coatings and for achieving a mirror finish. It does not remove scratches, but spreads products and smooths the surface.
Tool compatibility
The M10 thread is standard on most angle polishers and drills with variable speed control. The 8 mm adapter allows mounting on smaller tools. Before use, check that the tool can handle a maximum speed of 6000 rpm and has variable speed control — polishing requires the speed to be matched to the type of pad and compound.
Safety at work
During polishing, safety goggles and work gloves are recommended. Polishing compounds can irritate the skin. Hold the tool firmly with both hands, avoiding excessive pressure, which can overheat the paint or damage the surface. Work should be carried out in a well-ventilated room.
