The YT-06169 chain cutter is a professional tool designed for cutting exhaust pipes in workshop conditions. Its construction, based on 15 cutting wheels made from hardened GCr15 steel, delivers precise cutting of pipes from 18-95 mm in diameter without the need for power tools.
The cutter handles exhaust pipes from the smallest diameters (18 mm) up to large sections (95 mm), which removes the need to keep several tools on hand. The range covers most standard pipe diameters used in the exhaust systems of cars, vans and motorcycles.
GCr15 steel (chromium bearing steel) reaches a hardness of 60-64 HRC after hardening, which translates into long-lasting wear resistance. Spacing the 15 wheels along the chain distributes the cutting force evenly and keeps the tool stable during use, minimising deformation of the pipe.
This parameter defines the maximum material thickness the tool can cut through. A value of 2.5 mm matches the typical wall thickness of stainless and carbon steel exhaust pipes. Before use, it is worth checking the wall thickness with callipers, particularly on pipes with a reinforced construction.
The chain mechanism allows pipes to be cut in hard-to-reach places where cut-off saws or hydraulic cutters cannot be used. The chain wraps around the entire circumference of the pipe, ensuring a square cut with no risk of the tool slipping off.

Before cutting, clean the pipe of dirt and rust. Check the wall thickness with callipers – if it exceeds 2.5 mm, the tool may be damaged. Fit the cutter chain around the pipe, making sure that all cutting wheels sit evenly against the surface.
Cut by gradually tightening the pressure screw while rotating the chain around the pipe. Do not apply excessive force – the cutting wheels should bite into the material gradually. Tightening too quickly may jam the mechanism or deform the pipe.
After use, clean the cutting wheels of metal swarf with a wire brush. Lubricate the pressure screw mechanism with lithium grease every 10-15 uses. Check the cutting wheels for chipping – replace damaged parts to maintain cutting quality. Store in a dry place, protected against corrosion.
Wear protective gloves and goggles while cutting – flying metal swarf can cause cuts. Make sure the pipe is securely clamped and will not move during work. After cutting, the pipe edges are sharp – file them down before further work or assembly.
