The 9 mm hex socket with a 1/4" drive is a basic component of any tool kit used for assembly and servicing work. Made from chrome vanadium steel, it offers lasting performance in everyday use.
The standard 1/4" square drive is compatible with ratchets, speed braces and extensions of the same size. This smallest drive size used in professional sockets allows work in confined spaces where larger tools cannot reach.
The chromium-vanadium alloy combines increased wear resistance with high hardness while retaining flexibility. This material prevents the socket from cracking under load and extends tool life under intensive working conditions.
The 9 mm size matches M6 bolts and nuts, commonly found in electronics, precision engineering and the fitting of finishing components. The hexagonal profile spreads torque over a larger area, minimising the risk of rounding the fastener's edges.
The dimensional tolerances of the internal profile ensure a snug fit on the fastener. Accurate manufacturing eliminates play between socket and nut, which means reliable torque transfer and reduced wear on both the tool and the fastener.

The socket works with all tools that have a 1/4" square drive: ratchets, speed braces, T-handles, impact drivers with a 1/4" adapter, plus extensions and universal joints of the same size. Before buying, make sure your tools have a 1/4" drive and not the larger 3/8" or 1/2".
Hex sockets require basic maintenance to retain full functionality. After each use, clean the internal profile of any contamination that could affect how accurately the socket seats. Periodic lubrication of the square drive prevents corrosion and makes it easier to fit the socket onto the ratchet.
Always select a socket that matches the fastener size exactly. Using a 9 mm socket on 8 mm or 10 mm bolts damages both the tool and the fastener. If the internal profile becomes worn (play, rounded edges), replace the socket to avoid rounding off nuts.
