3-in-1 Metal, Cable and Stud Detector VOREL 81785
A multi-purpose detector for locating live cables, metal objects and timber structures in walls and ceilings. The device combines three detection modes in a compact housing with an LCD display, eliminating the risk of damaging services when drilling and mounting.
Features of the VOREL 81785 Detector
Live cable detection mode
A detection depth of up to 50 mm lets you locate electrical wiring before you start drilling. The device responds to the electromagnetic field around cables, which allows safe planning of fixing points on walls.
Detection of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
A detection depth of 38 mm detects water pipes, ventilation ducts and steel and aluminium profiles. A useful function when locating concealed structural elements and plumbing services in plaster.
Locating timber structures
A detection depth of 19 mm identifies joists, battens and timber studs in partition walls. It allows you to find solid fixing points for heavy items in plasterboard construction.
LCD display with indication
The clear screen shows the type of material detected and the distance to the object. Visual and audible field strength indication makes it easier to pinpoint the position of services.

Use and maintenance
Calibration before use
Before starting a measurement, the device must be calibrated on a clear section of wall with no concealed services. This procedure ensures detection accuracy and eliminates false signals.
Move the detector parallel to the wall surface at a distance of roughly 5–10 mm. Sliding the device slowly increases locating accuracy. Once an object is detected, repeat the measurement from different directions to confirm its position.
A 9 V 6F22 battery provides several tens of hours of operation, depending on how intensively the device is used. The auto power-off function extends operating time on a single battery. A weakening signal or a flashing battery indicator on the display signals that the battery needs replacing.
Technical limitations
Detection accuracy depends on the type of wall material. Reinforced concrete, aluminium foil and damp plaster can interfere with measurements. If in doubt, drill small test holes.
