KD10510 is a 300-piece set of external circlips made from spring steel, covering sizes from M3 to M32. Circlips (also known as retaining rings or snap rings) are used to lock components axially on shafts — they prevent gears, bearings, bushes and other parts from shifting during machine operation. The set is supplied with a plastic compartment organiser and a size chart.

Spring steel — a material of structural importance
Spring steel is characterised by a high elastic limit, which means that once seated in the shaft groove, the clip maintains constant tension and does not lose its shape under dynamic loads or vibration. This is a key property in applications where a loose retaining component could cause damage to an entire mechanical assembly.
External type — shaft mounting
External circlips are seated in grooves machined on the outer surface of a shaft or spindle. The clip is opened with circlip pliers, slid onto the shaft and, once released, grips the groove to form an axial abutment for the component being fitted. Before purchase, make sure that the shaft grooves are designed for the external (not internal) type of clip.
Wide size range in a single set

How do I check the correct clip size?
The size of an external circlip corresponds to the nominal diameter of the shaft on which it is to be fitted — for example, an M12 clip fits a 12 mm diameter shaft. The groove on the shaft must be machined to standard (the depth and width of the groove depend on the clip size). Before fitting, it is worth checking the groove dimensions with vernier callipers or referring to the technical documentation for the machine.

Fitting tool
Correct fitting and removal of external circlips requires external circlip pliers (spreader tips). Using the wrong tool — such as ordinary pliers — risks permanently deforming the clip and losing its retaining properties. Circlip pliers are available as a separate accessory.
