Angled Sanding Block 125x90x25mm P80 G78562 GEKO

A hand-held sanding block with an angled design, intended for sanding wood, metal and composite surfaces. The P80 grit allows uneven areas to be removed efficiently and the substrate to be prepared before further work.

Technical characteristics

P80 grit

A P80 grit (180–201 µm), classified as medium-coarse. It is used to remove visible scratches and uneven areas left by initial preparation, and to prepare the surface before finish sanding. It leaves a sanding scratch that requires further smoothing.

Angled design

Chamfered edges and an angled profile allow accurate access to awkward spots, corners and edges. The design prevents the edges of the sanded surface from being rounded off during use.

Working dimensions

The 125x90 mm base provides stable contact with the workpiece surface. The 25 mm thickness ensures a comfortable grip and control over pressure during hand sanding.

Versatile use

The abrasive structure is suitable for work on hard and soft wood, non-ferrous metals, structural steels and composite materials. No dedicated power tools are required.

  • Preparing a wooden substrate before painting or varnishing
  • Removing rust and mill scale from metal surfaces
  • Sanding weld seams and deburring
  • Working composites and plastics
  • Removing old lacquer or paint coatings
  • Levelling edges and corners of wooden components

Understanding abrasive grit ratings

A P80 grit to the FEPA standard (Federation of European Producers of Abrasives) means 80 grains per linear inch. The lower the number, the coarser the grains and the more aggressive the sanding. Typical range: P40–P60 (coarse), P80–P120 (medium), P150–P400 (fine), P600+ (very fine, for polishing).

Use and maintenance

When working with the sanding block, apply even pressure and move the tool along the grain of the wood or across the previous sanding scratches. Avoid excessive pressure, which overheats the abrasive and clogs its pores with dust.

A worn block loses its cutting ability – this can be recognised by a shiny grain surface and no sanding effect despite the pressure applied. Periodic cleaning with a wire brush extends the life of the abrasive by removing clogged dust.

Sanding sequence

After working with the P80 block, it is advisable to move on to a P120 grit, then P150 or P180, before applying finish coats. Skipping the intermediate stages will leave visible scratches on the final surface.
