YT-82510 Yato Soldering Tip Cleaner - Brass Wool

Professional soldering tip cleaner with brass wool in a metal tin. Mechanical dry cleaning eliminates the risk of thermal shock and extends tip life.

Cleaner materialBrass wool
Brass wool weight20 g
Tin dimensionsØ65 × 45 mm
ModelYT-82510

Features of the brass wool tip cleaner

Brass wool as the cleaning medium

Brass combines the hardness needed to remove contaminants with a soft structure that does not scratch the tip surface. The wool mechanically scrapes away oxidised solder, flux residues and other deposits without damaging the tip's protective layer, which extends its service life compared with aggressive cleaning methods.

Dry cleaning without wetting

Dry cleaning eliminates the thermal shock caused by contact between a heated tip and a damp sponge. Sudden temperature changes lead to micro-cracks in the tip's protective coating and shorten its service life. Dry cleaning in brass wool maintains a stable working temperature.

Metal tin with an opening in the lid

The metal tin provides stability during cleaning and protects the wool from contamination. A 45 mm opening in the lid allows the tip to be inserted easily without unscrewing the lid, which speeds up work and reduces the risk of spilling the wool.

Reusable with a long service life

Brass wool retains its cleaning properties for hundreds of use cycles. Unlike cellulose sponges, which wear out quickly and need replacing, the wool simply needs to be cleaned periodically of accumulated contaminants by shaking or blowing through with compressed air.

Applications of the soldering tip cleaner

  • Soldering SMD and THT electronic components on printed circuit boards
  • Service work on consumer and industrial electronics
  • Installation and repair of low-voltage electrical systems
  • Precision soldering in model making and jewellery
  • Workshop tasks requiring a clean tip for quality joints
  • Maintenance of soldering iron tips in soldering stations and irons
  • Cleaning tips after soldering with lead-free solder, which requires higher temperatures
  • Removing flux residues and oxidised solder between successive soldering operations

Use and maintenance of the cleaner

How to clean the tip

Gently work the heated soldering iron tip into the brass wool with a twisting motion. A few seconds of contact is enough to remove contaminants. Immediately after cleaning, apply fresh solder to the tip to protect it against oxidation. Avoid pressing the tip too firmly into the wool, as this can damage its shape.

Maintaining the brass wool

Contaminants that collect in the wool should be removed periodically. Simply shake the contents of the tin over a waste bin or blow the wool through with compressed air. With intensive use, cleaning every 2–3 weeks is recommended. The wool does not need to be replaced for the entire service life of the cleaner.
