YATO YT-86856 L-500 Street Broom
Street broom with a 500 mm head, designed for sweeping outdoor surfaces. The body is made from PP regranulate and the bristles from a PET/PVC blend with a 0.9 mm diameter.
Features of the YATO L-500 Street Broom
PP regranulate body
A material resistant to UV radiation, moisture and mechanical impact. PP regranulate retains its dimensional stability between -20°C and +60°C, which ensures year-round use without the risk of cracking or deformation.
0.9 mm PET/PVC bristles
A blend of polyester and polyvinyl chloride provides a balance between stiffness and flexibility. A 0.9 mm diameter means the fibres are thicker than those used in household brooms (0.4-0.6 mm), which translates into greater durability when sweeping rough surfaces.
500 mm working width
The head length determines the area swept in a single pass. The L-500 covers 0.5 metres of width, which reduces the number of passes needed to clean a given area compared with 300-400 mm brooms.
19-22 mm tapered thread
The tapered thread design allows handles with different ferrule diameters in the 19-22 mm range to be fitted. This eliminates the problem of mismatch and ensures a secure connection with most wooden and metal handles available on the market.

Handle compatibility
The 19-22 mm tapered thread is compatible with standard wooden and metal handles. Before buying a handle, check the ferrule diameter — it should fall within the 19-22 mm range. Most 120-150 cm handles meet this requirement.
Use and maintenance
The YATO L-500 street broom requires minimal maintenance. After use, remove larger debris from the bristles by shaking them out or rinsing with water. The PET/PVC bristles can be washed periodically with water and detergent, which removes accumulated dust and grease.
When sweeping dry materials (sand, dust), hold the broom at an angle of around 45 degrees to the surface. When removing wet leaves or mud, increasing the angle to 60-70 degrees is more effective, as it allows the stiffer fibres to scrape the material away more efficiently.
PP regranulate retains its mechanical properties across a wide temperature range, but at temperatures below -15°C strong impacts to the body should be avoided, as they could cause cracks. The PET/PVC bristles remain flexible even at -20°C.
Storage
Store the broom hanging up or leaning against a wall, avoiding prolonged pressure on the bristles. Long-term exposure to direct sunlight may accelerate the ageing of the material, despite the use of UV-resistant PP regranulate.
