A three-step drill bit for drilling holes for furniture screws (confirmats) in wood and wood-based materials. The design drills the through hole, the countersink for the confirmat head and the hole in the panel edge in a single operation.

Three-step design
The drill bit performs three operations in a single pass: it drills a 5 mm through hole, cuts the countersink for the confirmat head and prepares the hole in the panel edge. It removes the need to change tools when assembling furniture joints.
Carbon steel #45
A cutting edge material with a carbon content of about 0.45% provides suitable hardness for drilling wood and wood-based materials (chipboard, MDF, plywood). Steel #45 offers good wear resistance when working soft and medium-hard materials.
8 mm straight shank
The 8 mm diameter is the standard for corded and cordless drills used in joinery. The shank fits most keyless chucks and keyed chucks found on both professional and DIY drills.
Compatibility with 7 mm confirmats
The drill bit geometry is matched to the most popular 7 mm furniture screws. The countersink lets the confirmat head sit completely flush with the material, which keeps the joint neat and conceals the fixing point.

How to check compatibility
Before buying the drill bit, check the diameter of your confirmats. Standard furniture screws come in 5 mm, 6.3 mm and 7 mm diameters. The YT-33022 drill bit is designed for 7 mm confirmats – the most common size in furniture production. Also make sure your drill has a chuck that accepts an 8 mm shank.
Use and maintenance
The confirmat drill bit requires the correct drill speed – 1500-2500 rpm is recommended for solid wood and 2000-3000 rpm for chipboard. Too low a speed can tear the fibres, while too high a speed can overheat the cutting edge.
After use, clean the drill bit of chips and wood dust. Periodic lubrication of the shank prevents corrosion and makes the bit easier to fit in the drill chuck. Storing it in a dry place extends the service life of the tool.
When drilling laminated boards, drill from the laminate side to avoid chipping the edges of the hole. When drilling deep holes, withdraw the drill bit periodically to clear chips from the flutes.
Workplace safety
When using the drill bit, wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from flying fragments and wood dust. Work gloves and a dust mask are also recommended when drilling wood-based materials intensively. Secure the workpiece firmly so that it cannot move during drilling.
