30/40G Thumbturn Cylinder Lock — Brushed Nickel (K02704)
A pin tumbler cylinder with a single internal thumbturn, designed for mortice locks in internal and external doors. The asymmetric 30/40G size means that the external (key) side measures 30 mm, while the internal (thumbturn) side measures 40 mm from the centre of the lock. Body made of aluminium, mechanism made of ZnAl alloy.
Product Features
Internal thumbturn instead of a key
The internal side is fitted with a rotating thumbturn that allows the door to be locked and unlocked without a key. This is the solution most commonly used on flat entrance doors, where the landing side requires a key while the inside needs to be freely accessible.
Aluminium body
Aluminium combines low weight with adequate structural rigidity. The body does not corrode under normal indoor use, which translates into a long cylinder service life with no need for replacement.
ZnAl alloy mechanism
Zinc-aluminium alloy (ZnAl) is the standard material used for precision components in lock mechanisms. It ensures accurate machining of the drum channels and good abrasion resistance in everyday use.
Brushed nickel finish
A brushed surface in a nickel shade shows fingerprints less readily than polished finishes. The nickel colour is neutral and suits both silver-toned and satin chrome door furniture.
How to read the 30/40G cylinder size?
The figures denote the distance from each side of the cylinder to the axis of the fixing screw (the centre of the lock). The external side is 30 mm, while the internal thumbturn side is 40 mm. Before buying, measure the depth of the recess in the door leaf and the distance from the lock axis to the external and internal edges of the door. The letter “G” in the size designation indicates the thumbturn version (from the German Griff — handle).
