A hex socket with a 3/4-inch drive and 42 mm socket size, made from chrome vanadium steel. Designed for use with 3/4" ratchets, torque wrenches and accessories.
The 19.05 mm drive square is compatible with professional ratchets, torque wrenches and extension bars. The 3/4" system is used for jobs requiring high torque, typical of HGV mechanics and industrial machinery.
The socket fits 42 mm metric bolts and nuts. Before buying, check the spanner size that corresponds to the fastener - manufacturers specify this in the technical documentation or directly on the part.
This steel alloy with added chromium and vanadium offers increased surface hardness while retaining a ductile core. The material resists wear during repeated fitting and removal of the socket and reduces the risk of cracking under torsional load.
The internal hex profile spreads force over a larger contact area with the nut than a 12-point profile. This reduces the risk of rounding off the edges of the fastener, particularly on corroded or over-tightened bolts.

Before starting work, check that the socket fits the fastener without play. Excessive play between the socket and the nut damages the edges and makes subsequent removal more difficult. For heavily corroded parts, apply penetrating oil and leave it for at least 15-30 minutes before attempting to loosen.
Hex sockets need periodic cleaning to remove dirt that can build up inside the profile. After working in damp conditions, dry the socket and protect it with a rust inhibitor. Storing it in an organiser or on a magnetic rail prevents mechanical damage to the working edges.
When using a torque wrench, apply tightening torques in line with the vehicle or equipment manufacturer's recommendations. Exceeding the permitted torque can damage the thread or deform the socket.
