Use and maintenance

Melting time depends on the power of the glue gun – 20–40 W tools heat the glue in 3–5 minutes. Once the glue has been applied to the surface, the open time is 30–60 seconds, with full curing after 2–3 minutes. Standard glue guns operate at 160–180°C.

Hot melt glue does not require any special storage conditions – a dry room at room temperature is sufficient. Avoid direct sunlight, which can cause the sticks to deform. After use, any unused glue can be left in the gun's chamber – reheating does not affect its properties.

Compatible materials

Polymer-based glue bonds to most porous and semi-porous surfaces: wood, cardboard, paper, natural and synthetic fabrics, felt, synthetic leather, EVA foam and foam rubber. Adhesion to plastics depends on the type – polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) require the surface to be abraded first.

On smooth, non-porous materials (glass, metal, ceramics) adhesion is limited – the glue holds mechanically but does not penetrate the surface. In such cases the joint withstands static loads but not dynamic ones. For applications requiring a permanent bond between metals or glass, two-part adhesives are recommended.
