An HSS-G high-speed steel twist drill bit for metalworking, manufactured to DIN 338. The 11 mm cutting diameter and cylindrical shank allow holes to be drilled in structural steels, cast iron and non-ferrous metals.
A material with increased hardness and wear resistance. The "G" (ground) designation indicates a ground surface, which ensures precise drill guidance and cleaner hole edges. HSS retains its cutting properties at the temperatures of up to 600°C generated during drilling.
A standard defining twist drill geometry: a 118° point angle, a helix with a specified pitch and length proportions. DIN 338 guarantees dimensional repeatability and compatibility with drill chucks from all manufacturers.
A shank with a circular cross-section, of the same diameter as the cutting diameter. It fits the keyless chucks of hand drills and pillar drills. The chuck's maximum capacity must be at least 11 mm.
The cutting geometry is designed for machining materials with a crystalline structure. The drill bit handles structural steels up to 900 N/mm², grey and ductile cast iron, aluminium, copper, brass and zinc alloys.

For S235 structural steel: speed 300-400 rpm, feed 0.15-0.20 mm/rev. For aluminium: 800-1200 rpm, feed 0.20-0.25 mm/rev. Using a cutting fluid (emulsion, machine oil) extends cutting edge life and improves hole quality. Drilling without cooling is acceptable in materials up to 5 mm thick.
After each use, clean the drill bit of swarf with a wire brush. Store in a dry place, protected from moisture. A blunt cutting edge is indicated by increased feed force, excessive heat build-up and uneven hole edges. HSS drill bits can be sharpened on specialist grinders while maintaining the 118° angle.
