A VDE certified insulated socket designed for work on electrical installations live up to 1000V AC. Made from chrome vanadium (CrV) steel with a hexagon profile, it provides safe handling of fasteners in conditions where there is a risk of electric shock.
The VDE mark (Verband der Elektrotechnik) confirms compliance with European safety standards for tools used in electrical work. The insulation protects against electric shock up to 1000V AC, enabling safe work on live installations in accordance with health and safety regulations.
CrV steel alloy is characterised by increased hardness and wear resistance. The addition of chromium increases corrosion resistance, while vanadium improves the mechanical properties, resulting in a longer tool life under intensive use.
The internal hexagon profile distributes force evenly across six points of contact with the bolt or nut. This minimises the risk of damaging the edges of the fasteners and allows higher torque to be transmitted compared with 12-point profiles.
The micro-textured insulation surface and special grooves increase friction between the hand and the tool. This prevents the socket from slipping out of the hand during use, which is particularly important when working in hard-to-reach places or in awkward positions.

The 1/2" (12.7 mm) drive is the standard for professional tools. The socket works with torque wrenches, ratchets, extensions and universal joints with the same square drive size. Before use, check that the socket wrench has an insulated handle or a grip that protects against the flow of current.
Before each use, check the condition of the insulation for cracks, scuffing or mechanical damage. Even small defects in the insulating layer disqualify the tool from live working. VDE insulated sockets should be stored in a dry place, away from heat sources and chemicals that could damage the insulating coating.
The insulated socket should be cleaned with a soft cloth and agents that do not contain organic solvents. After work is finished, remove any dirt and check whether the insulation surface shows signs of overheating or melting, which could indicate contact with a circuit at too high a voltage.
The international standard IEC 60900 sets out the requirements for hand tools used for live working up to 1000V AC and 1500V DC. Tools compliant with this standard undergo electrical, mechanical and thermal testing, which confirms an appropriate level of user safety.
