Rebar cutters for cutting steel reinforcement bar, made from CrMo steel with hardened cutting jaws. A tool designed for steel fixing work and cutting steel bar up to 7 mm in diameter.
The body is made from CrMo alloy steel, which offers increased mechanical strength and wear resistance. The addition of chromium and molybdenum improves the hardenability of the steel and its corrosion resistance, which extends the tool's service life on building sites.
The cutting jaws are hardened to a hardness of 56-61 on the Rockwell scale (HRC). This hardness keeps the cutting edges sharp through repeated cutting of steel bar, minimising the need for sharpening and maintenance.
The 350 mm dimension is a compromise between leverage and tool mobility. This handle length generates enough cutting force for bar up to 7 mm while remaining convenient to transport and use in confined working areas.
This parameter defines the upper limit for the diameter of steel bar that can be cut without risking damage to the tool. Exceeding this value may deform the jaws or chip the cutting edges.

Before cutting, check the diameter of the bar with a vernier caliper or gauge. Attempting to cut bar thicker than 7 mm may result in permanent damage to the tool. When regularly working with bar close to the maximum diameter, it is advisable to leave a safety margin (e.g. 6.5 mm) to extend the service life of the jaws.
When cutting, place the bar perpendicular to the jaws and as close as possible to the pivot point of the tool. This position minimises the pressure required and reduces wear on the cutting edges. Once the work is finished, clean any contamination from the jaws and apply a thin film of machine oil to the moving parts.
The cutters are not intended for cutting hardened materials (e.g. spring wire) or components with a hardness above 56 HRC. Regularly checking the condition of the blades allows early detection of wear and prevents a deterioration in cutting quality.
Store the cutters in a dry place, protected from contact with moisture. Hanging them up or laying them flat is recommended to avoid deforming the handles. During longer periods without use, protect the jaws with a thin layer of maintenance grease.
