A sash clamp for securing and pressing components together during gluing, assembly and woodworking. The design, based on a galvanised steel bar with cast iron jaws, provides a secure hold on workpieces up to 120 mm wide.
The zinc-coated steel bar prevents corrosion and extends the life of the tool. Its 300 mm length allows the clamping force to be distributed evenly along the full length of the workpiece.
Cast iron jaws resist deformation under pressure. The swivel pressure plate adapts to uneven surfaces and ensures an even distribution of force.
The jaw pads protect the workpieces from mechanical damage and scratches. This is particularly useful when working with painted or polished surfaces.
The jaw opening allows workpieces up to 12 cm thick to be clamped, covering most typical joinery applications – from boards to worktops.

Before clamping, check that the surfaces of the workpieces are clean and dry. The plastic pads should sit evenly against the entire surface. Tighten the clamping screw gradually, checking the alignment of the components as you go. Excessive clamping force may distort the material or damage the glued joint.
After use, remove any glue residue and swarf from the bar and jaws. Periodically lubricate the thread of the clamping screw with machine grease; this makes adjustment easier and extends the life of the mechanism. Storing the clamp in a dry place prevents corrosion of the metal parts.
A 300 mm bar length is sufficient for most joinery work in both home and professional workshops. When gluing longer components, use several clamps spaced 40–50 cm apart. A 120 mm clamping capacity matches the thickness of standard floorboards, kitchen worktops and most furniture panels.
