Applications of the Shanked Flap Wheel

• Finishing welds and removing marks left by coarser grits
• Smoothing edges and corners of metal components

Use and Maintenance

Before fitting the wheel, make sure the drill or grinder chuck is designed for 6 mm shanks and tighten the tool securely. The recommended rotational speed depends on the material being worked – 3,000–6,000 rpm for metals and 6,000–10,000 rpm for wood. Excessive speed can cause the material to overheat and the abrasive flaps to clog.

Apply moderate pressure during use – pressing too hard shortens the life of the wheel and can cause the surface to overheat. Guide the tool evenly, avoiding dwelling in one place. After finishing work, clean dust from the wheel with compressed air.

Replace worn wheels whose flaps have lost their abrasive properties or become excessively shortened. Store the tool in a dry place, protected from moisture and mechanical damage.
