The YATO YT-71070 tape measure is a 3-metre measuring tool with a 16 mm steel blade. Made to Class II accuracy and fitted with a nylon coating, the blade is abrasion-resistant and keeps the millimetre graduations legible over a long service life.
Technical features of the YATO tape measure
Nylon-coated steel blade
Spring steel with a lacquer coating and a nylon layer is more resistant to scratching and prevents the graduations from fading. The coating protects against corrosion in damp conditions and when working on building sites.
Class II accuracy to the EN standard
Class II means a maximum measuring error of ±1.5 mm over a 3-metre length. This level of precision is sufficient for most workshop, construction and installation work where measurements to within a millimetre are required.
16 mm blade width
A 16 mm blade keeps its stand-out up to approximately 1.5 metres without support, which makes vertical measuring and work in hard-to-reach places easier. The greater width also improves the legibility of the graduations.
ABS plastic case

How to check the accuracy class of a tape measure
Accuracy class II means that the tape measure complies with EN 126-1, where the maximum error is ±(0.5 + 0.3L) mm and L is the length in metres. For 3 metres this gives ±1.4 mm. The class is marked on the blade or on the case of the tape measure.
Use and maintenance
The sliding hook at the end of the blade allows both external and internal measurements. For internal measurements the hook slides to compensate for its own thickness, ensuring an accurate reading. The belt clip lets you attach the tape measure to your belt, keeping the tool within reach while you work.
Keep the blade away from sharp edges, which can damage the nylon coating. After use in damp conditions, wipe the blade with a dry cloth before retracting it. The retraction mechanism needs periodic cleaning to remove dust and debris that can prevent the blade from retracting smoothly.
The blade lock holds the tape in the chosen position, which makes it easier to transfer dimensions and mark them out. The release button is located on the side of the case and lets the blade retract in a controlled manner at a suitable speed.
