TORX 1/2" T45 CR-MO Impact Socket
Professional impact socket with a TORX T45 recess, made from chrome molybdenum steel (Cr-Mo). Designed for intensive use with pneumatic and electric impact wrenches in workshop and industrial conditions.
Technical characteristics
Chrome molybdenum steel (Cr-Mo)
A material with enhanced resistance to impact and fluctuating loads. The addition of molybdenum increases the steel's flexibility, so the socket absorbs vibration from the impact wrench without cracking. It retains its strength parameters even under repeated load cycles.
TORX T45 recess
A six-point star profile, size T45. Torque is transmitted through the flanks of the recess rather than the corners, as is the case with hexagonal profiles. This reduces the risk of damaging the screw head and of the tool slipping during tightening.
1/2" drive
A square drive measuring 12.7 mm (1/2 inch). This is the standard size used on professional medium-torque impact wrenches. It is fitted with a retaining pin hole that locks the socket onto the tool's anvil.
Impact-rated construction
Reinforced walls and a dedicated hardening process allow use with pneumatic and electric impact wrenches. The socket withstands repeated impact pulses without deformation or micro-cracking that could otherwise lead to tool failure.

Cr-Mo versus Cr-V steel compared
Impact sockets are made from Cr-Mo steel because of its strength parameters under dynamic loads. Cr-V steel, used in hand tools, is not suitable for impact applications.

How do you choose the right material?
If you use an impact wrench (pneumatic or electric), choose Cr-Mo sockets. If you work exclusively with hand tools and a ratchet, Cr-V sockets are sufficient. Using standard sockets with impact wrenches leads to rapid tool failure.

Use and maintenance
Checking compatibility
Before buying, make sure your wrench has a 1/2" drive. Also check that the screws on the equipment you are working on have a TORX T45 recess – this size is used, among other things, on car suspensions, brake calipers and structural components.
The socket is fitted with a retaining pin hole and a retaining ring. After fitting it onto the tool's anvil, check that the socket sits securely and has no axial play.
The anti-corrosion coating protects the tool against oxidation in a workshop environment. To preserve the coating, remove any contamination after use and, if necessary, protect the socket with a thin film of maintenance oil, particularly when storing it in conditions of high humidity.
Impact sockets do not require lubrication during use. However, the condition of the working recess should be checked regularly – worn edges can cause the socket to slip off the screw and damage its head.
