A set of Torx Security screwdriver bits designed for working with tamper-resistant screws featuring a centre pin. The set contains 7 bits in assorted sizes, made from tool steel, and is compatible with 3/8" and 1/2" sockets.
The bits feature a six-point star profile with a centre hole that allows work on tamper-resistant screws fitted with a centre pin. This system is used in consumer electronics, domestic appliances and the automotive sector, where manufacturers fit this type of protection against unauthorised interference.
The material used provides the hardness needed to transmit torque without deformation. Tool steel is characterised by its resistance to wear, which extends the service life of the bits during intensive use in workshop conditions.
The bit shanks are designed to work with 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch ratchet sockets. This standard allows the set to be used with most torque wrenches and ratchets found in mechanical workshops.
The set covers the most commonly encountered Torx Security bit sizes, which removes the need to buy individual bits separately. The range of sizes allows work on screws across a wide range of applications – from small electronics to structural vehicle components.

The standard Torx profile has a full six-point star shape, whereas Torx Security includes an additional centre hole. This hole requires the use of a special bit with a centre pin, which prevents the screw from being undone with a standard tool. In practice, this means that an ordinary Torx bit will not fit a Torx Security screw – the pin in the centre of the screw prevents the tool from seating fully.
Before buying, check the type of screws used in the equipment you are working on. Torx Security screws can be identified by the visible pin in the centre of the recess. The bit size is marked with the letter T followed by a number (e.g. T10, T15, T20). Selecting the correct bit size prevents damage to the screw recess and ensures correct transmission of torque.
When working with Torx Security bits, keep the tool aligned with the screw – an angled position can damage the profile. Torque should be matched to the specification of the joint, particularly when using torque wrenches.
After use, clean the bits of any contamination and protect them from moisture. Storing them in a dedicated case protects the bits from mechanical damage and makes it easier to identify sizes. Regular checking of the working surface allows early detection of wear and replacement of the item before it loses full functionality.
When carrying out work with hand tools, the use of protective gloves and safety glasses is recommended, particularly when undoing seized joints, where there is a risk of sudden loosening of the component or the tool slipping.
