A short-type impact socket designed for use with pneumatic, electric and cordless impact wrenches. Made from chrome molybdenum CR-MO steel, which provides resistance to the dynamic loads encountered during impact work.
A material with increased flexibility and fatigue strength. It absorbs the vibrations generated during impact work, which reduces the risk of cracking and deformation. The chromium and molybdenum alloy ensures stable mechanical properties under prolonged load.
A 12.7 mm (1/2 inch) mounting socket — the standard in workshop tools. Compatible with impact wrenches, ratchets and extensions with the same drive. The retaining pin hole prevents the socket from falling off during use.
Distributes force across six points of contact with the bolt, minimising the risk of rounding the corners. The 17 mm size fits standard M10 bolts and nuts, which are commonly used in the automotive and construction industries.
The reduced length makes access easier in confined spaces, such as when fitting wheels, suspension components or in the tight areas of an engine bay. The short socket provides better stability at high torque.

Impact sockets are made from various grades of steel. The choice of material affects the range of applications and the durability of the tool.
| Property | CR-MO steel | CR-V steel |
|---|---|---|
| Impact resistance | Very high — designed for impact work | Limited — for hand applications |
| Flexibility | Higher — absorbs vibration and dynamic loads | Lower — may crack under sudden impacts |
| Hardness under load | Maintains its properties under prolonged use | Suitable for static torque |
| Typical applications | Impact wrenches, industrial servicing, workshops | Hand wrenches, ratchets, assembly work |
If you use an impact wrench — pneumatic, electric or cordless — CR-MO steel sockets are essential. Sockets made from other materials may crack under impact, which poses a risk to the operator and damages the fasteners.
Before starting work, check that the socket is suitable for the type of bolt — the 6-point profile requires a precise fit. Make sure the socket is correctly seated on the drive of the wrench and secured with the pin, if the tool allows this.
During use, avoid exceeding the maximum torque recommended by the impact wrench manufacturer. Excessive load can damage both the socket and the fastener.
After use, clean the socket of dirt, oil and rust. Store it in a dry place, preferably in an organiser or tool case. Regularly checking the technical condition — in particular for cracks and wear on the internal corners — extends the service life of the tool.
