Use and maintenance
Storing the first aid kit
Store the kit within easy reach of the driver and passengers, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. In summer, the temperature inside a vehicle can exceed 60 °C, which may affect the shelf life of some dressings. It is recommended to keep the kit in a storage compartment in the passenger area, or in the boot against a side wall.
Checking expiry dates
Dressings have a limited shelf life. Sterile dressings lose their sterility after the expiry date, and plasters may lose their adhesive properties. Check the dates on the packaging regularly and replace any expired items. A check every 6 months is recommended.
Restocking the contents
After using any item from the kit, replace the missing supplies immediately. An incomplete kit may not meet the requirements of the regulations and limits the ability to provide effective assistance. Individual components can be bought separately from pharmacies and medical supply shops.
