YATO YT-70655 Plastic Cable Ties - 500 x 7.6 mm, Black, 50 pcs
Cable ties made from PA66 polyamide, designed for securing wiring harnesses, cables, hoses and installation components. The 500 mm length allows bundles up to 145 mm in diameter to be secured, while the 55 kg tensile strength ensures a durable joint in electrical, hydraulic and assembly applications.
Technical characteristics of the cable ties
PA66 polyamide - construction material
PA66 (nylon 6,6) offers tensile strength above 80 MPa and temperature resistance from -40°C to +85°C. Its molecular structure provides flexibility alongside mechanical rigidity, which prevents cracking during tightening.
55 kg tensile strength
This parameter defines the maximum load the cable tie withstands before breaking. A value of 55 kg is sufficient to secure bundles weighing up to 5 kg with a 10:1 safety factor, in line with installation standards. The ratchet mechanism with evenly spaced teeth prevents the tie from working loose on its own.
UV resistance
The UV stabilisers added to the material protect the polyamide structure from degradation caused by sunlight. The cable ties retain 90% of their mechanical strength after 12 months of outdoor exposure, which allows them to be used in outdoor installations without the risk of embrittlement.
UL-94 V-2 flammability rating
UL-94 V-2 certification means the material extinguishes within 30 seconds of the ignition source being removed and does not produce burning drips. This standard is required for electrical installations compliant with IEC 60364, providing fire safety in distribution boards and control cabinets.

How to choose the right cable tie length
The circumference of the bundle is measured with a tape measure or a piece of string, adding 20-30 mm of allowance for closing the mechanism. For a bundle 40 mm in diameter the circumference is around 125 mm, so a 500 mm cable tie provides a generous margin and can be reused once the bundle is shortened. The maximum diameter of 145 mm corresponds to a circumference of around 455 mm.
Installation and use
Fitting a cable tie involves threading the tail through the opening in the head and pulling it tight until the required tension is reached. The ratchet mechanism locks automatically - each tooth increases the holding force by around 2 kg. Once closed, the excess length is cut off with a knife or side cutters 3-5 mm from the head.
When installing at temperatures below 0°C, rapid tightening should be avoided - PA66 polyamide loses some of its flexibility at low temperatures. Before outdoor installation, it is worth checking that the cable ties come from a batch with UV additive (marked on the packaging or indicated by the black colour of the material).
Cable ties cannot be reused once cut - the ratchet mechanism is a single-use design. Removal requires cutting the tie with a knife or side cutters. For applications requiring repeated opening, releasable cable ties or hook-and-loop ties are used.
Storing plastic cable ties
PA66 polyamide absorbs moisture from the air (up to 3% by weight), which affects its flexibility. Cable ties should be stored in their original packaging at 5-25°C, away from direct sunlight. When stored correctly, the shelf life is at least 5 years - the material does not degrade under storage conditions.
