A soft polishing foam pad, 150 mm in diameter, designed for the finishing stage of polishing automotive paintwork and other surfaces. The M14 thread makes it compatible with most standard rotary polishers.
Soft foam pads are used at the final stage of polishing, once scratches have been removed with firmer pads. They spread finishing compounds gently, without the risk of introducing new micro-scratches. The structure of the material lets the pad sit evenly against the surface being polished.
The M14 thread is the most common mounting standard on rotary polishers. It allows the pad to be screwed directly onto the machine's spindle without additional adapters. The stable threaded connection eliminates vibration when working at high speeds.
A 150 mm diameter is a universal size used on polishers rated at 600-1200W. The 50 mm height provides a substantial working face, so the pad can be used repeatedly before it needs replacing. This profile makes the pad effective on both flat and gently contoured surfaces.
The 5000 rpm limit follows from the properties of the foam. Exceeding it can overheat the pad, cause the compound to spread unevenly and reduce the quality of the finish. For most finishing work the optimum speed is 1500-2500 rpm.

Before first use, dampen the pad with water and wring out the excess. A damp pad spreads polishing compound more evenly and generates less heat. Apply the polishing compound directly to the surface being polished (3-5 dots per 50x50 cm area), not to the pad. Spread the compound over the surface with the polisher switched off before starting the machine.
For soft pads the recommended working speed is 1500-2500 rpm. Polish with light pressure, moving the polisher in a criss-cross pattern (first horizontally, then vertically). Keep the polisher flat against the surface and avoid polishing with the edge of the pad alone. The working area should not exceed 50x50 cm, which keeps the process under control and prevents the compound from drying out.
After use, rinse the pad under running water to remove any remaining polishing compound. A mild washing-up liquid can be used. Wring the pad out and leave it to dry in a well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight. Storing a damp pad in a sealed container encourages mould growth and degrades the material. The pad needs replacing when it loses its resilience, starts to crumble or shows uneven wear on the working face.
Check the condition of the pad and its threaded mount before every use. A damaged or excessively worn pad can fly off when working at high speed. Safety glasses and a dust mask are recommended while polishing, particularly in enclosed spaces. Do not use the pad to polish wet surfaces or with contaminated abrasive compounds, as this can cause scratching.
