Specialist tool for locking the camshafts on diesel engines from the VAG group. It allows precise setting of the valve timing when replacing the timing belt or chain on V6 and V8 TDI units.
A dedicated solution for locking the camshafts on 2.5 V6 TDI and 3.3 V8 TDI engines. The design of the timing drive on these units requires all camshafts to be locked simultaneously during adjustment, which prevents them from shifting relative to one another.
Ensures accurate positioning of the camshafts with the piston of cylinder 1 at TDC. Incorrect setting can lead to valve-to-piston contact, resulting in serious engine damage. The tool removes the risk of error during assembly.
Covers the AUDI A4, A6, A8 and Allroad models with the 2.5 V6 TDI engine from 1997-2008, the AUDI A8 3.3 V8 TDI, the VW Passat B5 2.5 V6 TDI (1998-2005) and the SKODA Superb 2.5 V6 TDI (2002-2008). Compatible with engine codes AFB, AKN, AKE, AYM, BAU, BCZ, BDG, BDH and BFC.
The kit consists of locking elements matched to the geometry of the cylinder heads and camshafts on V-TDI engines. Manufactured from tool steel, it resists deformation during repeated use in workshop conditions.

Before using the tool, check the vehicle's engine code against the list of compatible units. Engine codes can be found on the engine rating plate or in the vehicle documentation. The locking tool only works in conjunction with setting the flywheel to the TDC position of cylinder 1.
The engine code can be read from the sticker on the timing cover, the plate under the bonnet or the vehicle's service book. If in doubt, consult the manufacturer's technical documentation before starting work.
When fitting the locking tool, observe the tightening torques for the cylinder head bolts and timing components in accordance with the manufacturer's data. Incorrect timing belt or chain tension can cause it to jump by one or more teeth, resulting in engine damage.
After completing the work and removing the locking tool, turn the crankshaft by hand through two full revolutions to verify that the assembly is correct. The engine may only be started once the alignment of the timing marks has been confirmed.
Store the locking components in a dry place, protected from corrosion. Periodic cleaning to remove oil contamination and lubrication of the working surfaces with an anti-corrosion agent are recommended.
