Professional impact socket with a HEX H17 hex recess, made from chrome-molybdenum (CR-MO) steel. Designed for use with pneumatic and electric impact wrenches in industrial conditions.
A material with enhanced resistance to impact loads. The addition of molybdenum (Mo) improves fatigue strength and flexibility, which prevents cracking under the repeated impacts of an impact wrench. Compared with CR-V (chrome-vanadium) steel, CR-MO absorbs impact energy more effectively and retains its strength properties under intensive use.
A hexagonal internal profile measuring 17 mm, used for hex-head bolts and screws. Precision machining of the recess minimises play and ensures full contact with the bolt edges, which reduces the risk of rounding the head at high torque.
A square drive measuring 12.7 mm (1/2 inch), compatible with pneumatic and electric impact wrenches and hand ratchets with this drive size. Fitted with a retaining pin hole and a spring ring to prevent the socket from falling off.
A dark, phosphated or oxidised surface that protects against corrosion in a workshop environment. The coating extends tool life on contact with the oils, greases and moisture encountered during mechanical work.

Make sure the bolt has a 17 mm internal hex recess (H17). The socket fits impact wrenches and ratchets with a 1/2" drive. Do not use impact sockets with torque wrenches – they can affect the accuracy of the torque reading.
Chrome-molybdenum (CR-MO) and chrome-vanadium (CR-V) steels differ in their mechanical properties, which affects their suitability for impact tools:

In practice, this means that CR-V sockets used with impact wrenches may crack or deform after a few dozen work cycles, whereas CR-MO withstands hundreds of thousands of impacts without losing its properties.
To extend the service life of an impact socket, follow a few operating rules:
Before use: Check the condition of the HEX recess – there should be no signs of rounded edges. Make sure the socket is firmly seated on the tool's drive (use the retaining pin for extra security).
During use: Keep the socket axis perpendicular to the bolt surface – working at an angle increases wear and the risk of damaging the head. Do not exceed the maximum torque recommended by the impact wrench manufacturer.
After use: Clean the socket of dirt, swarf and grease. Store in a dry place, preferably in a tool organiser. Check the condition of the anti-corrosion coating periodically – protect it with maintenance oil if necessary.
